This gallery includes all the photographs in Cornelia Street Cafe's two month exhibition of my work, "New York Scenes from a Bicycle" - on view at the West Village cafe through March 31, 2013.
My connections to the locations pictured in this gallery started on Christmas Day 1960 with my first bicycle, a single-speed Schwinn. Dad owned a three-speed Raleigh. We rode river to river, south to the Battery and north to the George Washington Bridge. Dad brought his Yashica 44 camera on each trip and demonstrated to me how being patient for a shot paid off. I couldn’t wait for his pictures to be developed and would run to the pharmacy on York Avenue when they were ready. My love for his work, the memory of those trips and my passion for NYC are alive in my photos. I cycle the City year round and my compact Canon Power Shot 100 never lets me down.
